The Daily Dugout Report - May 22, 2026

A detailed report on everything you need to know regarding top prospects and maybe some under-the-radar prospects who could make an impact in fantasy leagues.

We are flying through the season. Memorial Day is quickly approaching and the summer heat is arriving. Balls will be flying out of the yard, and hopefully, soon, the Midwest League will have good weather for baseball.

It now feels like we have solid samples for all full-season affiliates, and the complex league has now given us several weeks worth of data. Check out the first Complex League Risers article here:

Let’s dive into the top performers from yesterday’s action.

The Prospect Report

🚀 Standout of The Day

Juan Ortuno, SS, Milwaukee Brewers (A)

Stats: 2/4 2 HR, 2 BB

Why The Performance Matters:

Ortuno signed with the Brewers in January 2024, and in typical Brewers fashion, they seem to have hit on another infield prospect. While Ortuno is not worth going crazy about and rostering in a ton of leagues, he is somewhat interesting. After showing some decent traits last year, Ortuno has swung it well this year. He turned in the best game of his career on Thursday, hitting two home runs and reaching base twice.

Ortuno has a shorter frame, but he is fairly strong. Last year, he posted a 90th percentile exit velocity of 102 mph, which is respectable, especially for his age.

Ground balls have been an issue for a lot of his career, and while that has been corrected somewhat, the pull rate is down substantially. The chase rate is good, and approach is the name of the game here. He likely wont be a huge power threat and there is not a lot of speed despite the 14 stolen bases you see.

Ortuno is a fine second baseman, but I would not look to add him unless its a deep league with 500 or more players rostered. -CC

Allen Facundo, LHP, New York Yankees (A+)

Stats: 5 IP/4 H/3 ER/2 BB/13 K

Why The Performance Matters:

Signing with the Yankees in 2021, Facundo pitched alright in the DSL, but a long history of arm injuries has set him back. He missed all of 2022 and pitched just 30 innings in each of 2023 and 2024 before having Tommy John Surgery. When healthy, Facundo has pitched fine, but this year, something is different.

Last night, Facundo struck out 13 batters and walked just two across five innings. He did allow three earned runs on four hits, but the 22 whiffs are quite notable. Facundo now has a 39 percent strikeout rate to a 13.6 percent walk rate.

Sitting 94-95 on his fastball, Facundo has topped at 97 mph this year. While having rather generic release traits, Facundo throws both a two-seam and four-seam shape, with the four-seamer averaging 15.5 inches of IVB and the two-seam around ten inches. The sinker gets 12-14 inches of arm-side run versus seven inches on the four-seam.

Facundo also has a slider that has an absurd 22.5 percent swinging strike rate on it this season, while having good depth and seven inches of sweep. While it sits near 85 mph, Facundo has an upper-80s changeup that has good depth and 14 inches of fade.

Considering the bat missing ability has been off the charts in High-A, I feel confident the stuff can play. The command and control needs to improve, but that was what we saw on Thursday. If it continues to improve, Facundo continues to rise. He looks like an arm to roster in leagues that roster 300 prospects. -CC
