The Daily Dugout Report - May 21, 2026
A detailed report on everything you need to know regarding top prospects and maybe some under-the-radar prospects who could make an impact in fantasy leagues.
We are flying through the season. Memorial Day is quickly approaching and the summer heat is arriving. Balls will be flying out of the yard, and hopefully, soon, the Midwest League will have good weather for baseball.
It now feels like we have solid samples for all full-season affiliates, and the complex league has now given us several weeks worth of data. Check out the first Complex League Risers article here:
Let’s dive into the top performers from yesterday’s action.

The Prospect Report
🚀 Standout of The Day
Jackson Lovich, SS, New York Yankees
Stats: 5/8 3 HR, 2 SB
Why The Performance Matters:
The Tampa Tarpons played a doubleheader on Wednesday to make up for a rainout on Tuesday. In game one, Lovich reached base twice via singles and stole two bases. In game two, he went off and turned in a three-homer performance in just a seven-inning game.
One of the homers left the bat with a 109.1 mph exit velocity and traveled 431 feet. While the others were not mashed, one still came in with a 103.5 mph exit velocity. The 2025 16th-rounder out of Missouri has been off to an incredible start to his pro career and is up to ten home runs in his first 30 games to pair with ten stolen bases.
There is no denying the power as Lovich has a 90th percentile exit velocity near 108.5 mph and an average exit velocity of 91 mph. The contact rates are highly concerning as Lovich has a 62 percent overall contact rate with a 67 percent in-zone mark.
So, despite impressive EVs and elite barrel rates, the power will probably be held back by the hit tool and even approach. It is easy to see why Lovich needs to be in High-A, but also, how high would the strikeout rate be? He is not a player I am investing in in a dynasty league. -CC
Jake Bennett, LHP, Boston Red Sox (AAA)
Stats: 5 IP/7 H/1 ER/0 BB/11 K
Why The Performance Matters:
Bennett turned in a masterpiece on Wednesday, turning in a career-high 11-strikeout performance. He did allow seven hits, but limited the damage and allowed just one run that came on a home run. Bennett did not issue a walk.
After having Tommy John and missing all of 2024, Bennett returned in 2025, tossing 75.1 innings and reaching Double-A. He posted a 2.27 ERA, but he struck out just 21.5 percent of batters. Bennett posted a strong 6.3 percent walk rate to counter it.
After sitting around 89 mph in 2023, Bennett has seen a huge tick up in velocity. He averages north of 94 mph with strong traits and heavy extension. Getting over seven feet of extension allows the pitch to play up. On Wednesday, Bennett created 17 inches of horizontal movement on his sinker.
The changeup sits around 86 mph and has over 13 inches of fade on average. The cutter worked 86-87 mph with two inches of cut action. Bennett rounds out his arsenal with a low-80s curveball with two-plane movement.
While Bennett has debuted, it would not be surprising if he finds his way back to Boston soon, especially if he keeps pitching like he did on Wednesday. -CC
