The Dynasty Digest: September 6, 2024
Chris breaks down all the top performers from the Minors.
Another great day of action across the Minor Leagues. Today’s Digest features reports on some top prospects but also some lesser-known names who put up big performances and if those performances really matter. Let’s dive in!
MiLB Hitters
Connor Hujsak, OF, TB, 22, A
After being selected in the 13th round of the 2024 draft, Hujsak is off to an awesome start to his pro career. Some call him clutch. He walked off Ole Miss, an in-state rival in the SEC Tournament, with a walk-off home run. Two nights later, he drives in two runs in the top of the ninth to give Mississippi State the lead over Texas A&M. Earlier this week, he walked off Columbia to send Charleston to the Carolinas League playoffs. Then, last night, he hit three home runs.
Hujsak spent the two first years of his collegiate career at VCU and after a strong Sophomore year, transferred to Mississippi State. After a junior year where he received just 47 plate appearances, Hujsak ended his career with a bang, slashing .325/.413/.555 with nine home runs and 25 extra base hits.
A 6’2”/200 lb athlete, Hujsak has played all three outfield positions so far in his short pro career and has posted a .297/.342/.568 slash with four home runs and 11 extra-base hits in 19 games. Considering he played SEC ball and is 22 years old, we probably need to see him in High-A to start next year. The results don’t lie, though, and Hujsak has been very good and a player to keep an eye on.
