MiLB Pitching
Travis Sykora, RHP, WSH, 20, A
The Nationals may have gotten a great deal on Sykora on a third-round overslot deal in the 2023 draft. Sykora already has an advanced body and arsenal despite being only 20 years old, standing at 6’6”/230 with great stuff.
His fastball already sits in the mid-to-upper 90s and has touched 101 mph. His split-change flashes are a plus pitch and sit in the same velocity band as his slider, which could improve shape.
On Thursday, Sykora led all Single-A pitchers with 20 whiffs, good for a 61 percent rate. He generated 15 more called strikes for a 45 percent CSW as he struck out eight batters over five innings with just one earned run allowed. Sykora only walked one, but he threw strikes at a 66 percent clip, which was a very positive sign.
