Chris breaks down all the action from the Minors to the Majors
MiLB Hitters
Zander Darby, INF, SF, 21, A
Darby recently made his pro debut after being selected in the 12th round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Given the college sample and intangibles, Darby looks to have been a great value pick in the 12th round and a $150k bonus. In his fourth pro game on Wednesday, Darby had his second multi-hit game, which included his first two pro home runs.
This season at UC Santa Barbara, Darby slashed .275/.347/.420 with six home runs, and only 14 extra-base hits in 50 games. Given that he is 6’3” and has plenty of projection on his frame, Darby could certainly tap into more power over time.
Darby has good OBP skills and picks up spin well enough to fight off breaking balls. He has mashed fastballs throughout his career. Having a shorter swing, Darby generates good swing speed, and the bat is on a direct path to the ball.
If you are in a deeper FYPD, Darby is a name to store away in your mind.
