The Dynasty Digest: April 8, 2024
Chris Clegg breaks down everything you need to know from the previous days' games on the MiLB side.
Today might be the first day I did not feature a Norfolk Tides hitter in the digest as they scored just two runs(gasp) and no one hit a home run on Sunday. Some of those hitters are human after all.
Anyways, The Dynasty Digest helps keep you up to date on everything going on across professional baseball, from the minors to majors to give you an edge in your dynasty leagues.
With a lot happening across all levels last night, let’s break them down.
MiLB Hitter Standouts from Sunday
Aidan Smith, OF, SEA
Last year after the draft, I dubbed Aidan Smith, the 2024 version of Roman Anthony, which was basically a player that was far too overlooked in the draft and sees their stock soar the next year.
Smith already has a great frame at 6’3”/195 lb and easily generates power, but does not put a major focus on that, letting the power come naturally. His swing is efficient, and he can drive the ball to all fields with authority.
Smith is a fast runner, posting a 6.48 60-yard dash, which is firmly plus or better, and can potentially be a power and speed threat, so I’m banking on the upside play here.
In Sunday’s game, Smith joined the fun in Modesto’s six home run game by adding two himself while adding a third hit that was a single. Look for Smith to see his stock rise throughout the 2024 season and he might be a player you should get in on sooner than later.
Zyhir Hope, OF, LAD
Everyone's new favorite prospect crush, Zyhir Hope, is swinging a hot bat to start the 2024 season. Crushing two home runs on Sunday, on two very impressive swings, Hope caught the first one down near the knees and obliterated it over the batters eye in right field. The second home run was letter high, and it left the yard in about 2.7 seconds.
I suggested picking up Hope in leagues that roster 150 prospects in my FAAB article this weekend and also in my hitting prospects to breakout article back in February. In a small sample at Chicago’s complex level, Hope slashed .286/.419/.542 with three home runs and three stolen bases. Hope’s calling card is his speed which has been clocked as high as 70-grade. He has good bat speed and the potential to grow into more power, and it is already showing with some gaudy exit velocities.
Hope has the potential to be a top 100 prospect very fast. Don’t miss the boat on this one.
