Hitters
Adley Rutschman, C, BAL
Have an Opening Day, Adley Rutschman. The Orioles’ stud catcher went five-for-five with a home run and four RBI on Thursday. Four of the five hits were singles, but he did have three hard-hit balls, including the home run. Rutschman is going to be an OBP monster with big power and is already the top catcher in the game for dynasty leagues.
Brendan Donovan, 2B, STL
Brendan Donovan’s spring training breakout has carried right into the regular season. He went three-for-six with a home run and two RBI. His home run came off the bat at 99 mph, but he also had two more hard-hits that were 105.3 and 109.1 mph. I hope you were listening this spring. Get Brendan Donovan everywhere while you can.
Oneil Cruz, SS, PIT
Oneil Cruz is off a scorching hot start, mashing a missile of a home run that left the bat at 111.1 mph. He walked twice and he only chased 13 percent of pitches out of the zone. Obviously a small sample, but this is the progress we saw toward the end of last season. Cruz is one of the few players that can hit 40 home runs and steal 20 bases in a season. There is a strong chance Cruz is a first-round caliber dynasty asset by seasons end. The cost to acquire may never be lower.
Alec Bohm, 3B, PHI
Alec Bohm looks like another Spring Training breakout that showed tangible change and is carrying over. Bohm went three-for-four with a home run and three RBI. His home run was off a 99 mph Jacob deGrom fastball. Bohm had three hard hits and ended the day a triple short of the cycle. He has also shown good feel for contact and hits the ball hard. Its always been about consistently lifting the ball for him. He did it this spring and there are reasons to believe it could continue and lead to a breakout season for Alec Bohm.
Wander Franco, SS, TB
Wander Franco is overrated for fantasy by some and a great buy-low for others. The camp seems pretty split on him. Wander’s quad injury does not seem like an issue as he went two-for-four with a home run on Thursday. He had two hard hit balls at 104.7 and 104.8 mph. Franco has one of the best hit tools in the game and just turned 22 years old. It seems crazy to think he could not continue to develop power. Im buying the dip on Franco in dynasty.
