The Daily Dugout Report - June 24, 2026

A new week of ball is underway. Tuesdays are some of the best days because we get Minor League ball back across all levels, and there is plenty to watch and discuss.

Today’s article features a ton of fun prospects. Some with big performances that we may not be buying into. Others may be on the verge of breaking out. But all reports today are worth a read!

Brady Ebel, SS, Milwaukee Brewers (A)

Why The Performance Matters:

Ebel was part of the dominant Corona High School team, which also featured Seth Hernandez and Billy Carlson. Son of Dodgers third base coach Dino Ebel, Brady has been a well-known name for some time. Landing with the Brewers at the 32rd overall pick in 2025, Ebel got a $2.75 million bonus.

While he has not yet put up huge exit velocity data, Ebel has a projectable frame and could tap into more over time, given the physical projection. In the box, Ebel’s swing reminds me a lot of Corey Seager, having a simple toe-tap and a smooth bat path.

After a slow start to the 2026 season, Ebel is really coming into his own and is coming off a great game where he collected four hits, including a double and a homer. Since May 15, Ebel has five homers, nine doubles, eight stolen bases and a .298/.443/.508 slash line.

The underlying data looks good as well, as Ebel has a solid 90th percentile exit velocity, which is above average for his age. The contact rates are solid as well and Ebel is running a very low chase rate. He does a good job of getting to the pull side as well, having a near 50 percent pull-rate. He also has 21 stolen bases on 23 attempts. Ebel is looking like a big riser. -CC

Devin Futrell, LHP, Boston Red Sox (A+)

Why The Performance Matters:

Futrell has really taken off this year and turned in one of the best starts of his career on Tuesday. Striking out 12 batters across six scoreless innings, Futrell allowed just two base runners all night. In 56 innings this year, Futrell has a 3.05 ERA with a 29 percent strikeout rate to just a four percent walk rate.

While the surface numbers look good, Futrell works his fastball 88-91 mph, while being in the 80s the majority of the time. His changeup is pretty devastating with a strong shape, sitting in the low-80s. The mid-70s curveball also misses a ton of bats.

Futrell gives hitters a unique look, but you have to wonder if the stuff will play as he moves up levels. He locates his arsenal extremely well, which is evident by his low walk rate and 67 percent strike rate. I would not rush to add Futrell, but in a deep league, he is worth a stash. -CC
