The Prospect Report
🚀 Standout of The Day
Handelfry Encarnacion, OF, Milwaukee Brewers (A)
Stats: 2/5 2 HR
Why The Performance Matters:
The Brewers have a long history of aggressively pushing young international prospects they believe in. Encarnacion just turned 19 years old and already has 400 plate appearances in full-season ball.
Having a strong 214 plate appearances sample in the complex last year, Encarnacion slashed .289/.369/.463 with five home runs and 18 doubles. With high contact rates and a low chase rate, Encarnacion has a well-rounded skillset for his age, and it shows. The results did not look great, but he was plagued by a low .198 BABIP. This year, things are looking up.
Encarnacion smacked two home runs last night to up his total to eight on the year and pair with 16 stolen bases. While he is hitting just .228 on the year, over his last 101 plate appearances, Encarnacion has as many walks as strikeouts and is slashing .268/.396/.402.
Under the hood, Encarnacion had a near 105 mph 90th percentile exit velocity last season with a 118 mph max exit velocity this year. Pretty impressive numbers for his age. The contact rates are respectable as well, and Encarnacion does a good job getting to the pull side. Watch him closely, as he could rise up the rankings. -CC
Riley Eikhoff, RHP, Chicago White Sox (A+)
Stats: 7 IP/5 H/2 ER/0 BB/7 K
Why The Performance Matters:
Eikhoff has made the sheet multiple times this year, but we have yet to write a report on him. That changes today as the dominance continues. As an older senior for Coastal Carolina last season, Eikhoff was a major part of the pitching staff that carried the team to the College World Series Final. He was drafted in the ninth round and got just a $7500 bonus, one of the lowest in the entire draft. He apparently has a chip on his shoulder because the 2026 season has been quite a good one.
After dominating Single-A hitters across 65.2 innings, Eikhoff moved to High-A and pulled off an impressive debut with Winston-Salem. He struck out seven batters across seven innings of two run ball. After not issuing a walk, Eikhoff lowered his season long walk rate to five percentage points to pair with a 25 percent strikeout rate.
Eikhoff sits in the low-90s with his fastball and gets heavy arm-side run in a sinker shape. The sweeper gets heavy glove-side movement with over 30 inches of separation between the fastball and sweeper horizontally. The changeup mimics the sinker well and has around five mph of velocity separation and tracks horizontally before falling off the map.
Landing over 68 percent of your pitches for strikes is impressive, showing good control, but the command is also good. Eikhoff does not have the stuff to be a high-end SP, but he is a solid arm who is worth of being rostered in deeper formats. -CC
