The Prospect Report

🚀 Standout of The Day

Jaron DeBerry, RHP, Milwaukee Brewers (AA)

Stats: 7 IP/2 H/1 ER/3 BB/11 K

Why The Performance Matters:

DeBerry has had some up-and-down stretches this season, but he is certainly riding a hot streak right now. After striking out ten batters last time across six innings, DeBerry punched out 11 across seven innings of one-run ball. He allowed just two hits and walked three batters.

DeBerry was selected in the third round of the 2024 MLB Draft, but got just a 25k bonus, one of the lower bonuses in the entire draft. He broke out in a big way in 2025, though the 4.38 ERA won’t wow anyone, it came with a 3.39 xFIP. So far this season, DeBerry has pitched 83.1 innings with a 4.00 ERA and a 26 percent strikeout rate in Double-A.

DeBerry won’t overpower you with the fastball, sitting in the low-90s range, but he has shown plenty of bat-missing ability with his secondaries. There is a solid changeup in the profile that sits 85-86 mph with good fading action.

The sweeper is DeBerry’s best offering, averaging spin rates near 3000 rpm consistently and over 17-20 inches of sweep regularly. There is also a tighter slider/cutter in the profile that works in the mid-to-upper 80s. He looks like a backend SP, and the Brewers have had a ton of success developing this type of profile. -CC

Emil Morales, SS, Los Angeles Dodgers (A+)

Stats: 4/5 2B, 2 HR

Why The Performance Matters:

Morales was one of the best hitters in the DSL in 2024, putting up big exit velocities and hitting 14 home runs while having a 186 wRC+. While the whiffs have gone up as Morales came stateside, he has done nothing but excel. Dominating in the Complex and Single-A last year, Morales has spent the season evenly between Single-A and High-A this year as a 19-year-old.

Blasting two home runs and adding a double, Morales brought his total to 17 in just 357 plate appearances. He pairs that with 24 doubles and three triples. The performance has been quite impressive as Morales is slashing .287/.358/.545, though he is striking out in 27 percent of plate appearances.

The power is extremely impressive, as one of the home runs last night left the bat at 111 mph. The power is undeniable as his 90th percentile exit velocity is up over 106 mph as a 19-year-old and does an exceptional job getting the ball in the air and to the pull-side.

Morales does have some holes in the swing, especially against breaking balls, so that will be something to watch. The athleticism is good, and he moves pretty well at shortstop. The contact skills are slightly below average, but Morales makes up for it with the damage he does. He is a legit top 50 prospect. -CC
