The Prospect Report
🚀 Standout of The Day
Seaver King, SS, Washington Nationals
Line: 4/6 2 HR, SB
Why The Performance Matters:
King has lit up the surface stats this year as he approaches making his MLB debut. Two more home runs brought his total to 18 home runs in 391 plate appearances with a .325/.405/.567 slash. He has 13 stolen bases but has been caught eight times.
With CJ Abrams moving over to second base, it would seem that King will be promoted to the Nationals in a matter of days. It would be good timing with how well he is swinging it, too.
The 36 percent chase rate is still a major issue, as are his launch angles. But his barrel rate and hard-hit rate are both impressive. The zone contact is passable at 85 percent. Something to watch will be his ability to hit MLB breaking balls though. The 42 percent chase rate against that demographic with a 68 percent contact rate are both issues. The whiff rate on changeups and splitters being at 40 percent is also something to watch.
Regardless, expect King soon. Stash him now. -CC
Lucas Elissalt, RHP, Detroit Tigers
Line: 4 IP/5 H/2 ER/1 BB/10 K
Why The Performance Matters:
Elissalt turned in the best start of the day across all metrics. He struck out ten batters and walked just one across four innings. While Elissalt allowed two earned runs, most of the damage came on a home run that he allowed to Aaron Parker.
Twenty-four whiffs led the day across all Minor League pitchers. After pitching quite well in High-A, Elissalt has continued to dominate in Double-A. Across both levels and 83.2 innings, Elissalt has a 31 percent strikeout rate to a 9.2 percent walk rate.
The velocity was a major issue in 2025 as Elissalt sat mostly in the upper-80s, but this year, he has worked 92-94 most of the year, which is encouraging. Elissalt’s curveball has also been his best bat-missing pitch, which works around 80 mph. The slider lags behind, but Elissalt does have a strong mid-80s changeup that misses bats at a high clip.
Elissalt has been highly effective at strike-throwing, but also has steadily improved the bat-missing all year. Over his last eight starts, Elissalt has pitched 38.1 innings with a 1.64 ERA, with 56 strikeouts to 11 walks. -CC
