The Prospect Report
🚀 Standout of The Day
Brady Tygart, RHP, Boston Red Sox
Line: 4.1 IP/2 H/1 ER/1 BB/10 K
Why The Performance Matters:
Tygart was the Red Sox's 12th-round pick back in 2024 out of Arkansas, but injuries have been the story of his career. The arm talent is there, but the consistent injuries have led to a lack of innings and poor command. So far this year, his 42 innings pitched are a career high.
The performance on Wednesday night was insanely impressive. Tygart struck out ten batters and walked just one while generating 20 whiffs. He located well all night and had hitters on their toes.
The fastball worked around 94 mph and he spun the breaking balls extremely well. The changeup sat near 88 with good fade.
Tygart has a long way to go to be fantasy prospect relevant, but the start was impressive nonetheless. -CC
Yostin Pena, OF, New York Yankees
Line: 4/6 HR, 5 RBI
Why The Performance Matters:
Pena signed with the Yankees in December of 2025 as an 18-year-old, and it may have been a great grab by them. Originally slated to sign with the Cardinals as part of the January 2025 class, Pena had his contract voided due to age-related concerns. The Yankees snagged him, and though he was older for the DSL, the Yankees rewarded his performance by sending him to Single-A.
While it's just 56 plate appearances at this point in Single-A, Pena has dominated, as he is up to 10 home runs this year in just 231 total plate appearances. The underlying metrics are impressive, and Pena has shown a well-rounded skill set.
Under the hood, the power numbers are off the charts as Pena has hit a ball as hard as 115 mph and has an elite 90th percentile exit velocity even if you dont factor in age. The contact skills have taken a bit of a dip in Single-A, but it was a major encouragement to see him whiff just once on nine swings on Wednesday.
The biggest thing to watch is his chase rate, which has been quite bad. So far in Single-A it has been near 50 percent, so monitor that closely. -CC
