The Prospect Report
🚀 Standout of The Day
Sean Keys, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays (AA)
Stats: 2/4 2 HR, 3 RBI, BB, IBB
Why The Performance Matters:
Keys rode a good 2025 season into what looks to be a major breakout in 2026. On the surface, you may not be impressed with Keys' .217 batting average, but a good thing batting average does not paint a picture of a prospect. The slash was a modest .217/.365/.408 in 2025 with 19 home runs and eight stolen bases. Keys finished the year on a high note as he hit seven home runs over his final 21 games and put up a .983 OPS.
The attractive things about Keys is what is under the hood, not what is on the surface. This is nothing new, though, as Keys was a data darling at Bucknell last year before the Jays selected him in the fourth round of the 2024 draft.
After two home runs on Thursday, Keys is up to eight on the year to pair with three doubles in 15 games. Keys is making contact at strong rates and has even seen his batted ball angles improve. Sure, the home-run/fly-ball rate is unsustainable, but given the underlying data, Keys is a player who is going to hit for plenty of power.
Fantasy Spin:
Set to turn 23 years old next month, Keys looks like he should handle Double-A with no problem. A promotion to Triple-A in late May or early June should not be ruled out, and while it may be hard to crack into Toronto’s lineup, don’t be surprised if Keys does get a cup of coffee in the majors this year.
He profiles as a high-OBP, power-type bat. The profile should also work well in points leagues. I value Keys as a top-200 prospect given the strong power data and approach, while also carrying good contact skills. -CC
