The Prospect Report
🚀 Standout of The Day
Daniel Pierce, SS, Tampa Bay Rays
Stats: 3/5 2 HR, 4 RBI
Notable Data: 25% Whiff
Why The Performance Matters:
Pierce was the 14th overall pick in the 2025 draft by the Rays, receiving a $4.3 million bonus. Thursday’s game was his first and second career pro home runs in the early going of his career. Both were line drive laser shots to left field which left the yard in a hurry!
While Pierce has struck out in every game so far this year and is running a 30 percent strikeout rate, things are looking up. With hits in the last three games, Pierce seems to be getting more comfortable in the box every day. The contact rates have risen to 73 percent overall, which is encouraging.
Fantasy Spin:
Pierce was one of the best athletes from the 2025 draft class, showing plus run times and potential plus power. There are some shades of Brady House in the swing, and there is a lot of pre-swing movement. Pierce starts with a balanced stand and his hands high, and the barrel tipped. There is a big weight transfer, but Pierce has calmed the hand movement in his swing a bit since last year. Pierce does a good job staying in his backside and creates good loft in the swing naturally.
The athlete is strong, as Pierce has clocked 60-yard dash times in the 6.5-second range. The glove and arm both may be plus, so if things click with the hit tool, Pierce could be a very solid prospect in all facets of the game. Pierce feels like a fun prospect to bet on continuing to rise. -CC
