Starting Pitcher Streamers 5/27-6/2

Michael Simione breaks down all the pitching streamers that you need to know for this weeks slate of games.

Hey all! I apologize for the delay. I went away for the weekend and brought my laptop but not my charger so that was useless. I usually do some kind of intro or interesting stats but we will bring that back next week.

  • A quick update. It seems no one pays attention to ESPN leagues or most of them are very small leagues. My picks will now only be under 30% rostered in Yahoo!

Analysis and Backup Options

Streamer of the Day

This week is a tough week for streaming. Just keep that in mind when reading all of these. Alec Marsh gets a matchup with the Twins and Marsh has been very consistent lately. In the last two weeks, he has a 20% K-BB% and a 3.56 SIERA. His command has been solid and he should get through this start with decent ratios.

Wednesday 5/29

Streamer of the Day

Frankie Montas has been shaky but with not a ton of good options we have to rely on him and his splitter. If he can get it going the Cardinals won’t put up a lot of damage against him. If you don’t need to stream today I wouldn't.

Strikeout Upside

Frankie Montas and David Peterson.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Frankie Montas and Andrew Heaney.

Frankie Montas and Andrew Heaney.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

Thursday 5/30

Streamer of the Day

Kenta Maeda has not looked good…like at all. But with not a lot of options, we are going with a pitcher who is taking on a cold offense. The Red Sox can be tough but they have a 78 wRC+and 12.8 SwStr% in the last week. Just like Wednesday, if you don’t need to stream don’t.

Strikeout Upside

Kenta Maeda and Colin Rea.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Kenta Maeda.

Kenta Maeda and Tyler Alexander.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

Friday 5/31

Streamer of the Day

Tobias Myers has shown that he can have a solid start. His underlying metrics in the last two weeks are elite and he draws a start against the White Sox. A White Sox team that has a 74 wRC+ against RHP for the season. Let’s hope he goes five innings.

Strikeout Upside

Tobias Myers

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Tobias Myers and Jose Soriano

Win/QS Potential

Tobias Myers and Jose Urena

  1. Tobias Myers vs CHW

  2. Jose Soriano at SEA

  3. JP Sears at ATL

  4. Jose Urena at MIA

  5. Miles Mikolas at PHI

Saturday 6/1

Streamer of the Day

Cooper Criswell has been super solid and he has one of the better profiles I have seen when it comes to Command+ and Stuff+. If he is on the waiver I would add and hold onto him. He takes on the Tigers who cannot hit line drives and make solid contact. No brainer.

Strikeout Upside

Cooper Criswell and Ryan Weathers.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Cooper Criswell and Casey Mize.

Win/QS Potential

Cooper Criswell and Michael Lorenzen.

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Cooper Criswell vs DET

  2. Casey Mize at BOS

  3. Ryan Weathers vs TEX

  4. Michael Lorenzen at MIA

  5. Alec Marsh vs SDP

Sunday 6/2

Streamer of the Day

For those who have followed me over the years you all know I love Tylor Megill’s talent. He takes on the Diamondbacks here and his Stuff+ ranking of 113 is impressive. If he can harness some better control he could take a big step forward.

Strikeout Upside

Tylor Megill and Cole Irvin.

Ratio Play (High Floor)

Tylor Megill and Simeon Woods Richardson

Win/QS Potential

Tylor Megill

If I Had to Rank The Top Five

  1. Tylor Megill vs ARI

  2. Simeon Woods Richardson at HOU

  3. Cole Irvin vs TBR

  4. Taijuan Walker vs STL

  5. Martin Perez vs ARI
