The Prospect Report
🚀 Weekend Standouts
Denzer Guzman, 3B, Los Angeles Angels (AAA)
Stats: 8/14 2 HR, 3 2B, SB
Why The Performance Matters:
At the time of signing in January 2021, Guzman was highly thought of, and the Angels gave him a substantial $2 million bonus. He has struggled at every level with the bat, and his best season came at the complex in 2022 when he posted a .763 OPS. Outside of that stop, his highest OPS was .680, and Guzman had never posted a wRC+ north of 86.
That all changed in 2025 as Guzman worked his way from Double-A to the Majors as a 21-year-old. In 539 Minor League plate appearances, Guzman blasted 17 home runs and stole 14 bases while slashing .247/.343/.426. While he did struggle in the majors, that was to be expected.
If you want to roster a player who could contribute soon, Guzman is him. He has performed extremely well in Triple-A this year, slashing .328/.396/.542 with nine home runs and six stolen bases. The strikeout rate is the lowest of his career and Guzman even has 14 doubles to add to his ledger.
While the exit velocity data is relatively average at 89 mph average and 103.3 mph 90th percentile. Guzman does a great job of pulling fly balls at a rate of 53 percent, and he has shown good exit velocities on line drives and fly balls.
The contact rates have steadily improved at 87 percent in the zone and 78 percent overall. Guzman’s approach has improved significantly, and his chase rate is below 24 percent, paired with an impressive 79 percent zone-swing rate.
Don’t be surprised when Guzman is up and contributing in Los Angeles soon. -CC
Karson Milbrandt, RHP, Miami Marlins (AA)
Stats: 6 IP/3 H/0 ER/2 BB/12 K
Notable Data: 24 Whiffs
Why The Performance Matters:
Milbrandt put up strong numbers throughout last season and finished the year extremely strong, earning himself a promotion to Double-A. The breakout continued into the AFL where Milbrandt became more of a household name.
A former over-slot third-rounder in 2022, Ccommand has held back what is a deep arsenal of pitches for Milbrandt. But in 2026, this all looks to have changed. Milbrandt is getting better with each start and honestly looks like one of the best pitching prospects in the game. After striking out 11 last week, he turned in a 12-strikeout performance over the weekend.
Milbrandt has walked just 8.7 percent of batters this year and pairs it with an impressive 39 percent strikeout rate. He now owns a 1.06 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP. It is time to get Milbrandt to Triple-A.
The fastball and slider are the best pitches here as Milbrandt works 95-97 and has topped near triple digits. It comes in with 16-17 inches of extension from a 5’5” release height. The slider is the best secondary pitch, sitting in the mid-80s with good depth and six inches of sweep.
Milbrandt also has a low-80s curveball with two-plane movement and an upper-80s cutter. The cutter almost plays like a gyro-slider, but is an effective pitch.
Fantasy Spin:
Milbrant needs a promotion to Triple-A at this point. He just turned 22, but has made notable strides as a pitcher and looks ready to make his MLB debut this season. The 65 percent strike rate is above average and supports the improved walk rate, and the stuff-and-bat-missing ability is impressive. On top of a 19.5 percent swinging strike rate, which is elite, Milbrandt also has an elite 60 percent ground ball rate.
At this point, Milbrandt might be a top-five pitching prospect in baseball. Is that crazy? Maybe. But it’s hard to argue with results, plus the stuff. -CC
