🚀 Weekend Standouts

Theo Gillen, OF, Tampa Bay Rays (A+)

Stats: 4/8 4 HR

Why The Performance Matters:

It was no doubt the best performance of the weekend. Hitting two home runs on Saturday already made him a standout, but Gillen did it again on Sunday, blasting two more home runs to give him four over the weekend. After hitting just five home runs in 324 plate appearances last season, Gillen is now already almost to that toal in just 31 plate apperances in High-A to begin 2026.

Having filled out his frame, Gillen has a strong lower half in his 6’2” frame and still has a little projection left. Gillen has good balance at the plate, strong barrel control, and a good point of impact. He sprays the ball to all fields well and is showing improved contact as the season has worn on.

Gillen hit the ball respectably hard, having a 103 mph 90th percentile exit velocity in 2025. He added some loft and dropped the ground ball rate by ten percentage points while making respectable contact. There is room for growth, but Gillen made contact on 82 percent of swings in the zone.

Fantasy Spin:

Last season, the name of the game was speed and getting on base as Gillen ran a .433 OBP and stole 36 bases on 39 attempts. We knew the power was likely to come over time as Gillen turned 20 to end last year, and it came on in a hurry this weekend.

It is still likely to be average game power long term, but the profile is fun enough that even if he’s an 18 home run type bat, Gillen’s stolen bases will make him a great fantasy bet. -CC

JT Quinn, RHP, Baltimore Orioles (A+)

Stats: 4.2 IP/2 H/0 ER/0 BB/10 K

Notable Data: FB up to 99 mph

Why The Performance Matters:

A 2025 comp-B round pick out of the University of Georgia, Quinn’s first two pro starts have him looking like a stud. In his pro debut, Quinn punched out six batters in 4.1 innings, allowing just three hits and one earned run. He was nearly perfect over the weekend in 4.2 strong innings, striking out ten batters and allowing just two hits.

A 6-foot-6 inch righty, Quinn has pitched in relief for most of his career and pitched just 36 innings last year at Georgia. Many wondered if Quinn might be a bullpen option to fast-track to Baltimore, but that does not look like the case here.

Quinn works downhill pretty well from his high 6-foot-5 inch release height and creates good arm-side run. The fastball topped out at 98 mph last year and averaged around 95 mph. He has already seen an increase in velocity this year and plays off of it with a curveball and slider.

The 80 mph curveball has strong two-plane break and misses plenty of bats, while the slider sits in the mid-80s with solid late break. Quinn has the recipe to be a starting pitcher, and the Orioles seemed committed to developing him that way. So far, it looks quite good.

Quinn is worth a shot in leagues that roster 400-500 prospects. -CC
