The Prospect Report

🚀 Weekend Standouts

Cam Cannarella, OF, Miami Marlins (AA)

Stats: 7/11 2 HR, 2B

Why The Performance Matters:

Cannarella experienced a fairly large drop-off in power production during his draft season, but that could have been due to a shoulder injury he suffered the previous year. Entering 2025, there was discussion Cannarella might go at the top of the draft. While it was a down year, Cannarella slashed .353/.479/.530 with five home runs and six stolen bases landing him 43rd overall with the Marlins

At the plate, Cannarella stands slightly open from the left side. He uses a small leg kick and his lower half flies open before he explodes through the zone with strong hands. He does a great job keeping his hands inside the ball and lets it get deep on him.

Two home runs over the weekend upped his total to five on the year, but he also added seven hits to up his average to an impressive .378 on the year. Cannarella does not hit the ball overly hard, but the contact and approach have been impressive.

Im not rushing out to add him everywhere because there are flaws, like his ground ball rate and the inability to pull the ball, but it is hard to deny the results he is putting out. -CC

Austin Gordon, RHP, Los Angeles Angels (AA)

Stats:  6 IP/3 H/1 ER/1 BB/10 K

Why The Performance Matters:

Gordon’s career path has been interesting to follow to this point. Three years at Clemson saw him pitch exclusively out of the bullpen his freshman year, and then make 16 starts during his sophomore campaign. During his draft year, Gordon served as the team’s closer, nailing down 11 saves. The Angels snagged Gordon in the fourth round of the 2024.

After posting a 5.44 ERA and striking out 25 percent of batters in 2025, Gordon came out of the gate slowly in 2026. He seems to be rounding the corner, though and is coming off his career best start over the weekend. Gordon struck out 10 batters on 20 whiffs while allowing just one run across six strong innings.

Gordon sits 92-94 on his fastball with decent ride, but good arm-side run. The slider and curve ball work as distinct breaking balls, with the slider working around 85 mph and the curveball in the upper-70s. The further developement of a changeup could be huge for him.

Over Gordon’s last four starts, he has a 2.45 ERA across 22 innings with 26 strikeouts to four walks. -CC
