Los Angeles Dodgers Top Prospects for 2026

1. Josue De Paula, OF, 21, 6’3”/185, AA (Prev Rank: 2)

2026 Update

Josue De Paula is a top 10 prospect in all of baseball, and a lot of that is because he has decided to swing more. Last season he posted a 37% swing rate, this year he is posting a 44% swing rate and everything is playing up as a result. He is currently hitting .316/.411/.536 and is due for a promotion to Triple-A any day now. He has the makings of a perennial 30-homer bat, the question is: will that be with the Dodgers or with another team?

Josue De Paula has always been vaunted for his power, as he routinely barrels up batted balls. However, he has not posted the homer totals you would expect with someone who has 70 raw power. In 445 plate appearances across High-A and Double-A, he hit .250/.391/.400, while hitting 12 homers and stealing 32 bases. Although stolen bases won’t be a big part of his game going forward, as he is beginning to slow down.

JDP’s swing doesn’t have a lot of moving parts to it; he has a leg kick, and he gets into his back hip. JDP makes a solid amount of contact, posting an 80% zone contact rate. He does have some issues with timing and angles, and despite his power, you would hope he would try to lift more batted balls to more easily get into that power. Another issue is Josue De Paula is passive in the zone, and that passivity will be challenged as he sees more time in Double-A in 2026.

The power is impressive, despite not being fully optimized in-game just yet; he posted a 106 90th percentile EV. If he can get more lift and pull into his profile, there is an easy 30-homer threat here.

Don’t expect much stolen-base upside here as JDP isn’t the most fluid mover and will only slow down more as he continues to matriculate up through the minors. But if he can be a more aggressive swinger and still tap into that power, he has a chance to be the next middle-of-the-order bat for the Dodgers, or whatever team they trade him away for their next start they add to their squad. Also don’t be surprised if you see him playing first-base in the next year or two…
