Houston Astros Top Prospects for 2026

1. Xavier Neyens, 3B, 19, 6’4”/205, A+ (Prev Rank: 4)

2026 Update

Neyens has blasted 14 home runs and even added in 16 stolen bases. The strikeouts are an issue, but the approach and exit velocity data are off the charts. The chase rate is one of the lowest in all of baseball, and the 90th percentile exit velocity is near the top at 109 mph. The problems come in with a 67 percent zone-contact rate. He is a fun profile, though.

Neyens has some of the best power among the high school crop of hitters in the 2025 MLB Draft. With ideal launch angles from an explosive swing from the left-side, Neyens puts up high-end exit velocities that already have reached 111 mph with wood bats.

From a mechanical standpoint, Neyens creates strong hand-to-hip separation, and while the swing can get long at times, the swing is smooth. Neyens uses a leg-kick, but gets his foot down rather quickly and times up the swing well. There is natural loft, and Neyens gets the ball in the air often.

Neyens’ bat speed is elite for his age, largely thanks to impressive rotational acceleration. He has also seen his athleticism take a step forward over the last year, though running is not likely to be a big part of his game. There is hit tool risk here, but if all clicks, Neyens has plenty of upside to dream on.
