The 10 Best Day 2 Prospects for Dynasty Fantasy Baseball
Chris breaks down his favorite players drafted yesteday on Day 2 of the 2025 MLB Draft for fantasy baseball, including some college bats and prep players with big upside.
Monday’s 17 rounds of the MLB Draft were a blur. Starting at 11:30 EST, the draft wrapped up around 7:00 PM. I am still catching up on all the picks from yesterday, but it was a blast. There is still so much to discuss and cover, but today I wrote up my ten favorite players selected yesterday for fantasy baseball.
With a draft with as little consensus as we have seen in some time, this could be a great opportunity for you to draft and get good value. Which players are a bit underrated and could be good values for dynasty fantasy baseball? Let’s dominate our FYPDs!
MLB Draft Sleepers for Fantasy Baseball FYPD
James Quinn-Irons, OF, Tampa Bay Rays, 6’5”/230
If you are someone who trusts models, Quinn-Irons might be one of the top-ranked players from an underlying data perspective. The George Mason outfielder to Tampa Bay feels like a dream. After two strong seasons, Quinn-Irons mashed 16 home runs and had 42 extra base hits while slashing .419/.523/.734. In addition, Quinn-Irons stole 36 bases.
The exit velocity data is off the charts as Quinn-Irons posted a 111 mph 90th percentile exit velocity with a max of 116 mph. Not only is the power impressive, but Quinn-Irons saw a major leap in contact in 2025. The overall contact rate sat around 81 percent, and the in-zone contact jumped from 77 percent last season up to 89 percent this year.
The approach improved as well, as Quinn-Irons chased just 21 percent of pitches out of the zone. In the process, his zone swing percentage dropped, but the impact was evident. Quinn-Irons still has questions given the lack of power-four competition, but the results and underlying data speak for themselves.
James Quinn-Irons is one of the more attractive mid-major names in the draft. Slashed .413/.520/.723 with 16 HRs (110 90th%EV) at George Mason this year and made strides w/ the hit tool. That's on top of 60 speed at his 6'5 frame (36 SB) and he's a clear long-term CF in pro ball.

Nathan Hall, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks, 6’3”/200
A transfer from Clemson to South Carolina in 2024, Hall put together an impressive season in the SEC, slashing .322/.397/.486 with seven home runs, 13 doubles, 14 stolen bases, and as many walks as strikeouts. Some scouts I talked to liked Hall more than Cam Cannarella, who was drafted 150 picks before him.
A 6’3” athletic centerfielder, Hall has excelled in the leadoff role for the Gamecocks, showing plus speed and plenty of power. Hall utilizes a big leg kick and wraps the bat a bit, but he creates a strong swing with good on-plane efficiency. The frame looks like he could still add more weight to it and tap into more power.
Even if he doesn't, Hall ran a 108 mph 90th percentile exit velocity with a 113 max this season. The contact rates are relatively strong, as well as Hall made contact on just shy of 80 percent of the pitches he swung at this year. From just a contact and power perspective, Hall profiles very closely to Ike Irish. There is more aggression in the profile, and Hall chased at an above-average 28 percent, but the well-roundedness of the profile is what makes him attractive.
Briggs McKenzie, LHP, Atlanta Braves, 6’2”/190
The Braves used savings on day one to grab two prep players in Briggs McKenzie and Connor Essenburg on day two. McKenzie is one of the better left-handed pitching prospects in the prep ranks and has plenty of projection on his 6’2” frame.
The fastball currently sits in the low-90s, working 91-92 mph, with 18 inches of IVB from a 6’0” release height. Although the pitch has reached 95 mph, it consistently plays up due to an extension of around 6’8”. McKenzie runs spin rates near 2600 rpm and gets a good arm-side run.
The curveball is McKenzie’s best pitch at present, sitting around 80 mph. He spins it up to 2900 rpm, and the pitch has around a negative five-inch IVB with 17 inches of sweeping action. There is also a changeup in the profile as McKenzie gets heavy fade, of up to 18 inches of fading action, sitting in the mid-80s.
A top-two round value, McKenzie is sure to get an overslot deal from Atlanta and is a great target for you in FYPDs.
The Braves pick up their third player who ranked inside our top 50 with Briggs McKenzie.
Here's when he faced No. 8 overall pick JoJo Parker 👀
