Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Buy Low/Sell High - Week 9

Knowing when to hold and when to fold on players can take you a long way in dynasty leagues. Here is who to buy and sell this week in dynasty leagues.

Knowing who to buy and who to sell is the most important thing you can do in dynasty leagues. Outside of the waiver wire, that is. This article will dive deep into some players' profiles to really judge if what they are doing is legit.

I break down why on each. Find out which prospects are breaking out, you should get in on, and which you should look to cash out on before the stock falls.

Let’s dive into the players to know!

Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Buys and Sells

Sell High: Liam Hicks, C, Miami Marlins

Hicks was looking like Barry Bonds at one point to start the year, getting on base as absurd rates and hitting plenty of home runs. Through April 1, Hicks had three home runs through his first 19 plate appearances and was slashing an absurd .467/.526/1.133. While I thought it would fall off, Hicks still is slashing .275/.347/.491 with 11 home runs to this point.

The contact skills are crazy, but always have been, as is his approach. Hicks is running a 97 percent zone contact and a 26 percent chase rate. This follows a 17.5 percent chase rate last season and a 91 percent zone contact. So the numbers will likely work themselves out and look very similar to 2025.

While Hicks was showing major improvements in ground ball rates in the early going, the number is right in line with what we saw last year, as he is running a 41 percent fly ball rate to pair with it.

Hicks bat speed is up a slight amount, and the overall exit velocities are up a ton. But if you look at the last month, Hicks has come down to earth and has just an 85.5 mph average exit velocity and a 1.4 percent barrel rate. The hard-hit rate sits at 28 percent over that span, and we are looking at 70 batted ball events.

People are all in on Hicks and for good reason. But given the fall back down to earth with power, now is the time to sell. You can get a nice return for someone you picked up on waivers, and I would do so quickly.

Prospect Sell High: Henry Bolte, OF, Athletics

One of the worst contact hitters in the minors over the last few years, Bolte cut his strikeout rate by nearly six percentage points in 2025. With tools for days, Bolte has plus or better power with 70-80 grade clock times.

Spending most of the year in Double-A, Bolte moved to Triple-A for his final 34 games, and between both levels, he slashed .284/.385/.427, but the strikeout rate did jump to 32.6 percent in Triple-A. The swing is flat, which is a large reason why Bolte posted a 59 percent ground ball rate, which ballooned to 66 percent in Triple-A. While he did improve the contact rates this year, the launch angles are far from ideal.

You can’t argue the performance, though, as Bolte hit 12 home runs and stole 17 bases in Triple-A while slashing .348/.418/.658. So far in 46 MLB plate apperances, he has posted a modest .282/.370/.333 slash. There may be real gains in contact as Bolte has run an 82 percent zone-contact rate between AAA/MLB, but the 60 percent ground ball rate is going to kill him, and MLB pitchers know how to get the ball on the ground.

Running a 90th percentile exit velocity of 109 mph in Triple-A, it is still a strong 107 mph in the majors. Bolte consistently posts high-end exit velocities, but the problem revolves around being able to create barrels due to the flat swing. The chase rate is good, and Bolte is likely to run a high OBP because of it.

The power and speed are fun, and it gives Bolte plenty of upside. The problem revolves around the hit tool. I have seen him in several top 10 overalls on major prospect lists. Sell and cash out!
