Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Buy Low/Sell High - Week 2
Knowing when to hold and when to fold on players can take you a long way in dynasty leagues. Here is who to buy and sell this week in dynasty leagues.
Knowing who to buy and who to sell is the most important thing you can do in dynasty leagues. Outside of the waiver wire, that is. We are still very early into the season, especially on the Minor League side of things. But there are still indications on players you can buy and sell. I break down why on each. Find out which prospects are breaking out, you should get in on, and which you should look to cash out on before the stock falls.
Let’s dive into the players to know!
Dynasty Fantasy Baseball Buys and Sells
Sell High: Joey Wiemer, OF, Washington Nationals
Wiemer got off to one of the hottest starts to the 2025 season, blasting home runs in his first two games and collecting three hits in both of those games. After having eight hits in his first three games, Wiemer has just two total hits since March 30 and has not seen the field regularly. Right now, Wiemer finds himself on the weak side of a platoon, which does not lend him to being in the lineup often at all.
The Baseball Savant sliders are off the charts, and people love seeing those red balls across the board. The surface numbers still look great, as well as Wiemer has a .476/.577/.857 slash line with two home runs to this point.
Wiemer’s roster percentage took a huge leap after the start, and he is rostered in 64 percent of Fantrax leagues. If you roster Wiemer, try to pawn him off on someone in your league who thinks he could be a legit breakout. He is an easy sell.
Sell High: Liam Hicks, C, Miami Marlins
Hicks was looking like Barry Bonds at one point to start the year, getting on base as absurd rates and hitting plenty of home runs. Through April 1, Hicks had three home runs through his first 19 plate appearances and was slashing an absurd .467/.526/1.133. The surface numbers still look good to this point, but it is time to move on from Hicks to someone who really needs a catcher.
The contact skills are crazy, but always have been, as is his approach. Hicks is yet to swing and miss at a pitch in the zone and is running a 16 percent chase rate. This follows a 17.5 percent chase rate last season and a 91 percent zone contact. So the numbers will likely work themselves out and look very similar to 2025.
There have been a couple of changes in the profile, though, starting with ground balls. Hicks has seen his ground ball rate drop by 22 percentage points thanks to a few mechanical tweaks. Hicks is not much more open at the start of his swing and is deeper in the box. In a small sample, the ideal attack angle has improved.
Hicks bat speed is up one mph, which has led to a six mph increase in average exit velocity. At the end of the day, I am not buying a true power jump due to the bat speed not matching the exit velocity jumps we have seen so far.
People seem to be buying a lot of stock in Hicks as he is rostered in 80 percent of Fantrax leagues. Christopher Morel and Kyle Stowers are returning to the lineup over the next few weeks, and it could cut into Hicks' at-bats if he does not hit the cover off the ball as we saw in his first five games.
