Dynasty Buys and Sells: Post-Spring Training
Chris Clegg highlights some players to buy and sell in your dynasty leagues before it is too late.
We have almost made it! Just one day away from the regular season. All the work you have put in this offseason now gets put to the test as games begin. Winning dynasty leagues requires you to be consistently active on the waiver wire. Nearly half of my top 100 prospects, especially pitchers, were pop-up players that you could have scooped up on waivers.
Trading is also a valuable part of dynasty leagues. Getting in on players early or trading players at the right time goes a long way. The list of players here likely trade targets or sells in most leagues.
I am not going deep on any of these players. I have written most of them up extensively in my daily Spring Training Dynasty Notes. So go read back through those if you want more on these players. But here is a list of dynasty buys and sells.

Hitters to Buy
Brendan Donovan, 2B, STL
Reason to Buy: New bat and approach change this spring led to more power to an already strong feel to hit and plate discipline.
Triston Casas, 1B, BOS
Reason to Buy: Improved approach against lefties this spring. 30 HR upside. A bit of prospect fatigue after a slow MLB debut last season.
James Outman, OF, LAD
Reason to Buy: Undervalued Dodger’s outfielder with underrated power, incredible launch angle dispersion, and sneaky speed. Should earn everyday at-bats.
Garrett Mitchell, OF, MIL
Reason to Buy: High-end stolen base upside with improved power output this spring. Could be a solid power/speed contributor with his everyday role in center field.
Elehuris Montero, 3B, COL
Reason to Buy: Big power and everyday at-bats in Coors should help boost his batting average to solid levels.
Andres Chapparo, CI, NYY
Reason to Buy: Prospect that is ready to explode and could be MLB-ready this year. Could be a potential 25-home run bat.
Parker Meadows, OF, DET
Reason to Buy: Looks ready to take an MLB outfield spot soon. Blossoming power and speed with solid plate discipline.
Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B, PIT
Reason to Buy: Exit velocities have been through the roof this offseason. Also lifting the ball more. Could be in for a 20/20 season.
Blake Sabol, C, SF
Reason to Buy: Rule 5 pick that has shown he can stick on the roster. Versatile and can play C, 1B, OF. Underrated power.
Casey Schmitt, 3B/SS, SF
Reason to Buy: Best glove in San Francisco’s organization who showed an improved bat last year, which carried into this spring.
Oswaldo Cabrera, UT, NYY
Reason to Buy: Will play all over the diamond and have a ton of positional eligibility. Could be a 15/10 type bat with respectable batting averages.
Masataka Yoshida, OF, BOS
Reason to Buy: Showing more power than expected this spring with an elite hit tool and OBP skills.
Gabriel Moreno, C, ARI
Reason to Buy: Everyday role with one of the best hit tools among any catcher. Exit velocities leaped forward this spring.
Pitchers to Buy
Jared Shuster, LHP, ATL
Reason to Buy: Earned rotation spot in Atlanta and displayed improved stuff. Shuster should be a staple in the rotation moving forward with solid ratios and lots of opportunities at wins.
Graham Ashcraft, RHP, CIN
Reason to Buy: Improved already good stuff and missed a ton of bats. Could take a huge step forward this year.
Clarke Schmidt, RHP, NYY
Reason to Buy: Should be in the rotation all year. Added a cutter and heavily relies on a sweeper, which could lead to increased strikeout totals.
Reid Detmers, LHP, LAA
Reason to Buy: Velocity has been up two-to-three mph this spring. Had an elite spring which could lead to a huge breakout season.
Hunter Greene, RHP, CIN
Reason to Buy: Ready to take the step towards ace status. His fastball looks good as ever and has a wipeout slider to pair with it.
Hayden Wesneski, RHP, CHC
Reason to Buy: Dominant spring earned him a role in the Cubs rotation. Not doing anything new per se, but is just highly undervalued and could be a solid mid-rotation arm.
Hitters to Sell
Jo Adell, OF, LAA
Reason to Sell: Just drop him in almost all formats.
Chris Taylor, OF, LAD
Reason to Sell: Worked at driveline this offseason but struck out in 44 percent of plate appearances this spring. Could lose his role quickly.
Christopher Morel, 3B, CHC
Reason to Sell: Demoted to Triple-A. Major swing and miss concerns plus issues against breaking balls and offspeed pitches.
Nolan Jones, OF, COL
Reason to Sell: Coors cannot save him as the Rockies demoted him. Becoming a non-prospect quickly.
Dylan Carlson, OF, STL
Reason to Sell: Someone has to be the odd man out in the St. Louis outfield. Carlson is on the chopping block unless his bat gets going.
Pitchers to Sell
Luis Severino, RHP, NYY
Reason to Sell: An elite arm when on the mound, but can’t stay healthy. Currently out with a lat injury that could cause him to miss a month, but don’t be surprised when it is more. Has pitched 120 total innings since 2019.
Jack Flaherty, RHP, STL
Reason to Sell: People keep buying back in, but Flaherty is often injured and has only had one elite season in 2019.
Tanner Houck, RHP, BOS
Reason to Sell: Appears to be destined for the bullpen at this point. Walked 12 batters and gave up 9 nine home runs in 20 Spring Training innings. Will get a crack at the rotation in the early going, but I’m not confident.
Chris Bassitt, RHP, TOR
Reason to Sell: Bassitt’s velocity was down three mph all spring. Said he was ramping up slowly, but the season is here, and the velocity isn’t. A 34-year-old arm coming off several really good seasons creates a good selling opportunity.
Chris, what do you see for Pache? Great spring, still young and high pedigree. I'm suprrised the A's couldn't find a spot for him. Do you see him succeeding with another team?
I just acquired Julks and Neto. Hoping Adell gets traded.
