Complex League Climbers: Standout Hitters

Complex ball has now been underway for nearly a month and a half. There is plenty of data and large enough samples for us to feel good about players. This list of names is worth discussing as they are moving up rankings and should be taken seriously before heading off to full-season ball.

Today, we are going to focus on the hitters’ side of things and which names you really need to know that could be taking legitimate steps forward.

Complex League Standouts

Sebastian Romero, OF, Chicago White Sox

Romero signed with the White Sox in January 2026 for $1.5 million, the second-highest bonus that they gave out. The 6’2” outfielder has shown a good feel to hit with plenty of power.

After two triples in Tuesday’s action, Romero now has a .395 batting average with a 1.399 OPS. He has five home runs, a double and those two triples. While he has walked just twice, he has been hit by five pitches in 11 games, which is pretty impressive itself. The strikeout rate sits below 24 percent, though a small sample.

Romero looks like a player who is going to get plenty of power, and that is what the early returns suggest. On both triples in today’s action, I clocked Romero under 12 seconds, so he is moving pretty well.

If you look at the walk rate, you might think the approach is bad, but I have watched quite a few at-bats at this point and think he is pretty selective, which I like to see. Romero is just teeing off when he does get a pitch to hit.

Im not shoving Romero up the boards yet, but hes a legitimate top 500 prospect with room to grow.
