Complex League Climbers: July 7, 2026

Which prospects are standing out at the rookie levels? Get to know the top hitters and pitchers from the complex and DSL.

We are two months into complex ball and a month into the DSL season. There is plenty of data and large enough samples for us to feel good about players. This list of names is worth discussing as they are moving up rankings and should be taken seriously before heading off to full-season ball.

Today, we are going to focus on the hitters’ side of things and which names you really need to know that could be taking legitimate steps forward.

Who is breaking out? You need to know these names. Let’s get after it.

Complex League Standouts

Cristian Arguelles, OF, Colorado Rockies

Arguelles really broke out last year in the DSL, where he hit .422/.528/.652 with five home runs. Some didnt buy in as it was his second stint in the DSL, but the improvements seemed legit and carried into this year.

It seems like it is time for the 18-year-old prospect to head out to Single-A given the continued dominant performance. Arguelles has eight home runs, seven triples, and ten doubles on the ledger, while slashing .381/.471/.653. He has walked more often than he has struck out.

Sure, the .415 BABIP is going to be unsustainable. But, under the hood, things look good as well. We have seen Arguelles make strides with his exit velocity data, and right now, his 90th percentile exit velocity is right in line with MLB average. His max exit velocity is up over three mph from last year.

From a contact perspective, the data is elite, running a zone contact rate of 92 percent with a respectable chase rate. I don’t see Arguelles being a huge home run threat given the batted ball angles. The 48 percent ground ball rate is concerning, as is his whiff rate against breaking balls.

Regardless, Arguelles is a high-contact profile that can hit 15-18 home runs in the Majors, there is some value to be had there. He is a fun profile to see how it all clicks. He should be in Single-A soon, and it will be really telling on who he is as a player.
