Arizona Diamondbacks Top Prospects for 2027

1. Demetrio Crisantes, 2B, 22, 6’0”/178, AAA

Demetrio Crisantes is one of the best second-base prospects in the sport, thanks to a blend of contact and damage on contact. He also has some proximity, ending the season in Triple-A, and will be added to the 40-man roster. So the question is not if Demetrio Crisantes will be producing for the Diamondbacks and your fantasy roster in 2027, but when will he be doing that.

The impressive part of Demetrio Crisantes' game is just how “hitterish” he is. It’s fantastic plate coverage, and he shows a good understanding of the strike zone. He doesn’t whiff at an alarming rate, nor is there a crazy amount of chase. He has never posted a strikeout rate for a full season above 18%, which is impressive in today’s game.

There is an all-fields approach here, thanks to his ability to cover the entire strike zone. It’s a simple swing, a slight toe-tap, with no wasted movement. He shows good barrel malleability throughout the zone and can attack all four quadrants of the strike zone. The power isn’t impressive by any means, and he doesn’t lift and pull many batted balls, but he sprays liners all over the park, and the final step could be sacrificing some of his plus contact skills by cheating on more balls on the inner third and trying to pull them in the air.

The upside with Crisantes is that of a top 10 second baseman; it’s just a matter of when more homers will come. Given that we have seen guys like this in the past sacrifice some quantity of contact for more damage on contact, that would be a welcome thing for Crisantes’ fantasy profile, especially because he won’t be much of a stolen-base threat. He has a relatively high floor thanks to good swing decisions, posting a 44% swing rate, with a touch of upside as well if he starts lifting and pulling more batted balls.
