10 Prospects to Stash for the Stretch Run in Fantasy Baseball

It is that time of year when fantasy baseball managers begin looking at the calendar to calculate the days until the PPI deadline passes. While there is no official date, for that to happen, a prospect graduates from prospect eligibility if they eclipse 130 at-bats/50 innings pitched OR 45 days of service time.

This matters because with the new Prospect Promotion Incentive picks that began in 2022, players who win Rookie of the Year or finish in the top three for CY Young or MVP net their team a comp round draft pick.

Many teams have prospects who were not ready to come up early in 2026 but are now. Many of those teams have held these players down until the point when they will carry over prospect eligibility into 2027. Getting prospects valuable MLB experience down the stretch, while also keeping their eligibility for 2027, matters a ton for a player to have a good chance at winning Rookie of the Year.

The magical date falls on August 15. So teams will begin calling up players next week and beyond to keep them eligible. Who are those players, and are they worth stashing? Let’s dive in.

Prospects to Stash for the Stretch Run

Kade Anderson, LHP, Seattle Mariners

The 2025 third overall pick has been the best pitcher in the minors this season, having a 1.13 ERA with a 0.65 WHIP across 87.2 innings. The strikeout rate has remained an absurd 41 percent all season, and the walk rate a minuscule 3.8 percent.

Mariners GM Jerry Dipoto said Anderson will be called up this year to be a starter, not in the bullpen. It's just a matter of time, and probably days. Anderson is scheduled to pitch Friday, August 14, with Arkansas in what likely will be his last Minor League start.
